The aide who came to us on strict terms of anonymity expressed his fear of the direction of the watchdog group.
Internet Censorship halted
Voting on SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect Intellectual Property Act) was postponed after protests by major internet sites. The two bills would give the government the unprecedented authority to shut down and block access to any site that regulators deem to be in violation of copyright laws.
Is Prohibition Worth it?
There are those who argue that marijuana is bad for society and should be illegal. There are those who argue that marijuana is harmless and in fact medicinal. Both sides of the argument make their points well. There is one argument that is seldom made. Let’s assume that marijuana is bad for society. What if it does do all the horrible things opponents claim it does? The question that should be asked now is whether the cost of enforcing the prohibition of marijuana is worth the costs to society.
Oversight Needed for Drone Program
Members of congress are demanding that the Obama Administration be more forthcoming with information regarding the drone strike program the CIA uses to kill suspected terrorists. The strikes are the cornerstone of Obama's anti-terror strategy. However, there has been little information distributed to congressional members.
Bachmann Chair Switches to Ron Paul
Ron Paul received the endorsement of the one-time campaign chief for the Michele Bachmann campaign. Iowa state senator Kent Sorenson announced his support for Dr. Ron Paul during a rally in Des Moines. Sorenson said that it was a painful choice to make to abandon the Bachmann campaign, but that he felt that he needed to join the Paul camp to counter the attempts by Republican establishment to sabotage Paul’s campaign for the Whitehouse.
